Peeing coyotes are my forte…
So our photo tour is coming to a close, and i’m not sure that i’m ready to head home yet. i miss my bela and kitties but this park is just so beautiful. You just never know what you are going to see each day. Yesterday was a great day, we ended up having 3 different coyote sightings! and oddly 2 of those times i got photos of the coyote peeing, what’s up with that? We again got great photos of Rosie and the cubs as well as many other animals- moose, bison, pronghorn….
I forgot to add links earlier, so if you want to check out Dale’s tours go to Franz Foto. My friend kay has posted some pics as well, and oddly they are always way different than mine! She has some fun ones of me with my “big mama” lens… Take a look at Kay’s blog.
We’ve heard some funny things on this trip and i thought i’d share one of them… “would you like a camera with that lens?” which is too true considering how many wildlife photographers there are in the park, just about everyone has the big daddy with them.
Ok on to the photos!
We started the morning off with a moose & baby sighting, we’d already seen her before but they were in a better spot this time and i got some that i really liked. The other is of a silly Pronghorn Antelope in Lamar Valley – i did get a “serious” shot as well but i loved his face in this one!
Rustic falls, aka Bridalveil (as there is always a bridalveil) was quite pretty, and i was the only one who went to check out the terraces from Mammoth Hot Springs
Artist point is a spot i really wanted to hit as my “Grammy” had taken a picture there of Lower Falls many years ago on her visit to the park. I think my picture is very similar and i thought of her while i was there
A big group of bison
A cool rainbow in Lamar Valley (AKA La-Far haha) as well as Rosie and her cubs and the multiple coyotes we saw throughout the day.

Hi Heidi,
What an adventure!! I checked out all of your pictures. How amazing that you were able to get a wolf shot. And the bears, how awesome, good that you have the big daddy lens- perhaps you should get the bigger daddy belgrande if you are going to take more of the grizzlies. I have a friend who monitors wolves at yellowstone and takes amazing wildlife photos as well. His name is Mike Oconnell. He sends me pictures from yellowstone and excerpts from his time out in the field, that are fun to read.
I had hoped to spot a wolf or two when I was on Isle Royal, but never did.
I have heard wolves in Northern Wisconsin, but never have I seen one in the wild let alone take a picture of one.
On the one occasion that I had to take what could have been an incredable shot of a bull moose, I was so awestruck I could only inch my way behind a tree and stare at this amazing creature that had just charged down the hill, we had a stare down until finally got his point across and wandered away. That photo I’m afraid I can’t share, but it will be in my head for a long, long time.
All of your pictures are so good. My favorites are mama and baby grizzlies walking away, the wolf of course, the shelves at hot springs, and the thermals especially the one to the left of the redish one.
That is a place I want to go someday.
Scott showed me some pictures that you and he took in Arizona, a place I would like to visit in the spring, as I have heard the dessert is beautiful and in bloom then. Glad you had a good time.
Hope you are feeling better. Will see you soon.
Sue
